Each scene takes place behind a door in George’s mind (if you will). The first two rooms contain couples to whom George is more than happy to play voyeur before finding his own release behind the door to fantasy number three.
As George opens door number one, he finds Jesse Jackman and Johnny Parker in the wilderness. It's kind of a mind-fuck - the fact that this "room" is in fact a jungle - but it's supposed to be. Mark has a sensibility all his own behind the lens, and like a few of his fellow Titan director predecessors, it's easy to identify a film he's directed simply by watching it. He's even thrown in some cool bonus footage called "Under the Pond," which is literally shot beneath the coy pond from scene one, and "Under the Pool" which is shot beneath the pool that's shown right before scene two and features naked men swimming randomly across the screen. Wide Awake is filled with big, hairy muscle guys and daddies, and for that reason it might not be for everyone - but it's certainly at the top of the heap for its genre.
